On December 12, 2020, Mike Stangl was tragically taken (far too early) from all that knew and loved him in an ATV accident while hunting on his family's land in northwestern Wisconsin. He was just 49 years old.

Mike left a lasting impact on those who crossed his path. He radiated kindness and empathy and had a way of always making people feel important, heard and loved. He was a man of Integrity, commitment, and had a passion for serving others. He was a family man, loyal friend, and committed to his faith. He had a sincere desire to help those who were struggling or needed help in any aspect of their life. He was someone that rooted for the underdog. He was never afraid to tell family members or friends that he loved them. He was a prayer warrior – taking special interest in people who were struggling in life or suffering from illness.

Mike’s own personal experiences and struggles helped him recognize the unique needs of those battling emotional and physical afflictions. His words of encouragement came from a place of true understanding and compassion. He knew how important it was to find a glimmer of hope when things seemed darkest – and he did his best to be one for those around him – by sharing the love and peace he found in his relationship with God.

Mike’s foundation came from his consistently progressing faith. He enjoyed talking about it with those who shared his passion, and he encouraged those who didn't have a relationship with God to explore one. He wanted people to experience the same unconditional love and uncommon peace that he had found in Jesus.

Mike was generous - the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. More importantly, he shared his time, often saying that time was the most precious gift you could give someone. It is free and it's a portion of your life you will never get back.

Mike was a big supporter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It combined two of his greatest passions – his love for God and sports. Throughout his life Mike participated in athletics. He loved the camaraderie of a team and the opportunity to be outdoors enjoying the beauty and wonder of nature. When he became a parent, he embraced the difficult dual role of coach and dad with uncommon grace. As an athlete, Mike constantly pushed himself to be better, stronger, more. He did the same in his spiritual life. In FCA, he saw an opportunity to help others have a similar experience.

Mike impacted countless lives through financial generosity, his willingness to pray, share his time and show love. In 2023, a memorial fund was established in Mike’s name in hopes that his life will continue to have lasting impact – an ongoing testimony that challenges all to live each day with gratitude, share time, love God, be present for your friends and family and have compassion for those in need.

Help keep Mike's legacy alive by donating to FCA in his name. It's a meaningful way to honor his memory and continue his passion for supporting others. It’s our hope that the donations you make will continue to make a difference for years to come and help us keep the memory of a special man and his purpose-filled life living on in a meaningful way.
