Bucks Game Update

    February 11th, 2012

On Feb. 11th, 220 FCA students and supporters joined together to hear from Bucks players and watch a fun game of basketball. Jon Brockman, Tobias Harris, and Larry Sanders shared their stories of how they live out their faith. They stressed the importance of being in the Word every day. The players also attend chapel before every game to learn from Scripture and spend time in prayer.

Those who attended enjoyed pizza before the game and had the opportunity to shoot a free throw on the court after the game.

InSideOut Coaching Clinic Update

On January 28, 2012, over 140 coaches from the Midwest gathered for a day-long seminar with Joe Ehrmann. Ehrmann was named "The most important coach in America" by Parade Magazine and his philosophy backs up that statement. He shared many useful tools as well as personal stories which encouraged coaches to be transformational and to truly impact their players lives for good.

My wife Shelley and I have been married for 36 years; we have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We have lived in Mukwonago for 30+ years (same house). I grew up in Madison attended James Madison Memorial High School. I played football, basketball and baseball in high school and attended the University of Wisconsin and played basketball. I worked for 20 years for Deluxe Check Printers before coming on staff with FCA in 1997. I have been involved with the ministry for 25+ years and Shelley and I served as huddle coaches at Mukwonago High School for 18 years. It has been a blessing to think back on all the ways God has been working in the lives of athletes and coaches over these past 25+ years.

I grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin, attended Brookfield Central High School and graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1978. I then worked for Playmakers, Inc. from 1979-1982 before entering seminary. I graduated from the International School of Theology in 1986 with a Master of Divinity degree, and then served on the pastoral staff at Elmbrook church in Brookfield, WI. from 1988-2006 as Pastor of the Sports Ministry. In 2007 I joined the staff of FCA as the area representative in Southeast Wisconsin

Family: Linda and I have been married for 22 years and have two adult children—Leah and Jaime.

Sports: In high school I played football, basketball, track and baseball, and then played all four at different times during my college career. Following college, I travelled with a Christian basketball team (Sports Ambassadors) on several short-term missions trips—Africa in 1979, Guatemala in 1980, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong in 1983, China in 1984 and the Philippines in 1987. I have also coached boys basketball at Brookfield Central H.S. since 1987.

My FCA connection started when I attended an FCA sports camp at St. Olaf’s College during high school and decided to follow Jesus Christ. I then served at several FCA camps as a huddle leader during my college days. Later, as a sports ministry pastor, I partnered with FCA many times and am now delighted to be serving athletes and coaches through the FCA ministry here in Southeast Wisconsin.

I grew up in Brookfield, WI and graduated from Brookfield East High School in 2009. I am currently a student at Carroll University studying Relational Communication and French. Throughout high school I was involved in an FCA huddle and played tennis and lacrosse. I now lead two Bible studies on campus at Carroll and I had my first experience as a Huddle Leader at Leadership Camp last summer. It is such a blessing to be a part of FCA and to see how students and athletes are truly impacting the world around us!
